| How To Charter a MotorCoach? |
Below is a checklist of helpful tips to assist you in choosing a motor coach company for your travel needs.
- Consider the needs of your group.
- Ask how long the company has been in business.
- Check into the company's safety record.
- Inquire about the type, age, and condition of the coach which will be assigned to your group.
- Visit and step aboard their coaches. (If a visit is not practical, ask to see actual photographs of the company's coaches.)
- Request references and contact them about the company's service.
- Ask to see proof of insurance. Is the carrier fully insured and do they have all necessary permits?
- Find out how driver expenses, tolls, parking charges, etc. are handled.
- How will the company handle additional drivers if required to safely and legally complete your trip? (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Standards restrict the number of hours that a driver may be on duty and the required hours of off-duty time between. If your travel plans exceed these restrictions, how will the company handle the trip?)
- How is the company prepared to handle breakdowns, near home or far away?
- Make certain of terms, cancellation penalties, etc.
- Be wary of bargains. If it sounds too good to be true, it may be! Ask for details in writing.
- Always put safety above economy.
